Dulcey Fuqua
Dance Division Director
Dulcey is the founder of the Dance program and Progressions Repertory Dance Company. Having received training both locally, as well as throughout her college education, with her love of dance and extensive experience with children/adolescents, she has created a program that has received national recognition and is known for its exceptional training and nurturing atmosphere. Ms. Dulcey continues to train and take part in dance opportunities in order to keep her program current and offer her students a quality dance education. Her original choreography has been recognized and has won awards at regional and national level competitions. She was awarded the Richmond, VA regional Marjorie Perry Spirit Award for teachers by DanceMakers inc.

Devin Sweet
Dance Division Instructor

A native of upstate New York, Devin Sweet began his dance training with the Fokine Ballet Company at the age of 4. He attended college at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. During his 4 years at UNCSA, he performed works by world renowned choreographers such as George Balanchine's "Serenade," Jerome Robbins' "Fanfare," and Sir Fredrick Ashton's "Les Patineurs."
He was selected to perform at the Guggenheim museum in New York City where he performed August Bournonville's "Jockey Dance." He was trained and coached for these roles by the expert faculty at UNCSA including Ethan Stiefel, Melissa Hayden, Warren Conover, Frank Smith, Gyula Pandi, Christine Spizzo, and Fanchon Cordell. His other instructors include Gillian Murphy, Damian Woetzel, Johan Kobborg, Kat Wildish and Slawomir Wozniak.
As a professional, Devin has danced both contemporary and ballet works. Performing as both a freelance artist and company dancer, he has danced across the East Coast.
Devin started teaching in 2010 and has since been an active faculty member and guest instructor at schools throughout Virginia and North Carolina. His students have gone on to study with Richmond Ballet, Boston Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, The Joffrey Ballet, New York City Ballet, and many more.

Lea Waldhauser
Dance Division Instructor

Lea holds a Bachelor of Arts from George Mason University, is Power Pilates mat certified, and has been teaching since 1986. She is a professional dancer with a strong background in jazz, lyrical, classical ballet, hip-hop, and tap. In 2006, Lea was contacted by Cirque du Soleil to provide a contemporary class to their dancers the day of their show at the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville!

Her professional performing career was featured with several top jazz and tap companies throughout the Washington, DC and Northern Virginia areas. Lea choreographed for and participated on dance teams in the NBA and the AFL (Arena Football League). As a choreographer, her work has won recognition in national competitions and featured in national benefit performances and several industrials throughout the East Coast. Lea choreographed and co-taught at an early age with lead instructors for major dance organizations in the United States including Dance Educators of America, Dance Masters of America, Dance Olympus, and Dance Caravan.

Marisa Brizolara
Dance Division Instructor

Marisa Brizzolara began her dance training at the Orange School of Performing Arts at age 3. She was a member of the “Dance Explosion Jazz Companies” for 12 years, where she won numerous dance awards and scholarships competing at regional and national levels. During that time, she taught classes, gave private dance lessons, and choreographed competition and recital routines. Marisa is trained in musical theatre, jazz, hip hop, ballet, lyrical, modern, tap and contemporary. Since age 9 she has performed in the Nutcracker in such rolls as Clara, the Snow Queen and, most recently, the Sugar Plum Fairy. She has been taught by teachers/choregraphers such as Tyrone Brooks – Dance Theater of Harlem, James T. Lane – Broadway’s “A Chorus Line” Original Cast, Andrea Weber – Merce Cunningham, Troy Brown – Pacific Northwest, Voltaire Wade-Greene – Hamilton, and has worked extensively with members of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, including Matthew Rushing – Rehearsal Director and Alicia Graf Mack and Demetia Hopkins – Company Members, as well as trained at intensives such as Pulse and Dance Awards in New York City. Currently, Marisa is in her second year at James Madison University, where she dances on the National Champions dance team as a “Dukette”.

Jaclyn New
Dance Division Instructor

Jaclyn holds a B.A. in Biology from Eckerd College. She began dancing at the age of 6 in Central Illinois where she studied ballet, pointe, modern, tap and jazz. She worked as a teacher’s assistant for a few years before attending boarding school, where she joined the school’s dance team. In 2007, her team won the State Championship in hip hop in their division. While in college, Jaclyn participated in a student-run dance team for 4 years, performing at school events throughout the year. She became captain her junior and senior years, teaching technique and choreography in hip hop, jazz and contemporary styles. Jaclyn has been personally trained by Director, Lea Moore through the CPAS Instructor Training Program.

Cayla Ebekke
Guest Instructor

Cayla Ebbecke is a JMU sophomore majoring in biophysical chemistry. She is a Dukette and was on the team when they won NDA nationals. Cayla has been dancing for 18 years now and has been dancing competitively for 10 years. She has been trained in many genres of dance. She gained her training from TJE Dance Force in Holbrook, NY. Cayla has competed across the country and has participated many regional and national competitions. She has also taken master classes with amazing choreographers such as Josh, Twitch, Comfort, and Sonya from So You Think You Can Dance. Dance is a passion for Cayla and she is so happy to be at ODPAS.

Audrey Fenske
Guest Instructor

Audrey Fenske began her dance training at Bounds Dance Studio/Triangle Youth Ballet in Chapel Hill, NC. She continued her studies in high school at the Virginia School of the Arts under the late Petrus Bosman, and received the Service Award upon graduation. She also trained at intensives with Houston Ballet, BalletMet Columbus, and Pilobolus.  She graduated from Duke University as the university’s first dance major with a double major in Developmental Psychology.  After graduation, Audrey taught, choreographed, and performed both freelance and at the Triangle Youth Ballet in Chapel Hill, NC, where she also served as Registrar and Director of Community Outreach.  Audrey was also a member of Gaspard & Dancers in Durham, NC.  Audrey’s choreography has been commissioned by the Charlottesville Ballet and by the Duke University Dance Program and has been performed at various venues nationally. Audrey currently works with the Charlottesville Ballet as Outreach Coordinator and Resident Choreographer.

Cara Goodwin
Dance Division Consultant and Guest Choreographer
Cara Goodwin is originally from Virginia Beach, VA. She graduated from James Madison University in 2002, with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Dance. While working on her degree, she taught at Old Dominion Studios in Waynesboro, VA. At that time, she also did Master Classes within the Waynesboro Public Schools, and choreographed for the Waynesboro Community Theater. After graduating from JMU, Cara went on to perform with Stiletto Entertainment and Holland America Line onboard their 5 star luxury cruise ships, traveling all over the Carribean, South America, Central America, Panama Canal, Hawaii, the Pacific Coast and Alaska. She received her primary training and has taught at nationally recognized Denise Wall's Dance Energy, in Virginia Beach, VA. Cara has also performed with the world famous Cirque du Soleil. She has filmed commercials and continues to train.  Cara is currently residing in New York City where she is teaching at Broadway Dance Center as well as other programs, auditioning and performing professionally with a Contemporary Dance Company.

Cara is a regular presence at our studio bringing many workshop weekends and a popular week-long summer intensive. She also has taken a vital role in competition choreography for our dance team. Her original choreography has been recognized and has won awards at regional and national level competitions.

Alexandra Bjarkadottir
ODPAS Alumni & Guest Instructor
Alexandra has received her primary training at Old Dominion Performance Arts Studio. She has also received training with the Richmond Ballet (receiving a merit scholarship) and has been accepted into many additional programs, including Virginia School of the Arts and South Carolina Conservatory. She studies ballet, tap, jazz, musical theatre, contemporary, modern and lyrical. Alexandra has been a very successful member of our Progressions Repertory Dance Company and our Progressions Elite Dance Competition Team receiving many awards at regional and national levels. She also has shared her talents as a choreographer with fellow studio and team members. Her choreography has also been award winning, including a 2nd place national solo!

Sara Meinhoffer
Dance Division Guest Instructor and Choreographer
Sara Ann Meinhofer is originally from Sacramento, California and has been a performer for 18 years. She started performing with the Sacramento Ballet where she was featured in their annual Nutcracker for three years. She has also performed with El Dorado Musical Theatre, Dance Expressions,Center Stage Dance Academy, Spotlight Theatre and Dance, Oak Grove Theatre, and ShenanArts. Sara has been a choreographer for five years.  In 2008, Sara won a national 'Cappie' award for choreography of 'The Music Man', where her choreography was featured at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.  Sara began cheering in high school and won 'All Patriot District Cheerleader' her senior year. Her squad was also district champions for four years. She then cheered at Old Dominion University and competed on the CoEd University squad. Sara can not only be seen teaching at ODPAS, but also contributes & instructs with other local & community programs including, the Presbury Theatrical Training Program through ShenanArts. Sara is attending Virginia Commonwealth University to pursue a degree in elementary education and dance.
